My Mate Mark

posted by admin in Uncategorized

There are people, dead people, famous people, odd people, I would love to be able to sit down and have a chat with: Mark Twain for one. Mark Twain, or just simply “Mark” as I like to call him – because once you’ve read A Tramp Abroad as many times as I have then I think you have earned that privilege in some small way – was a man who didn’t care very much for what anyone really thought. A More

Get Questions Answered!

For some inexplicable reason – but probably something to do with me never shutting down my computer and it being on for about 3,000 hours straight, maybe? – the sound-card on my laptop has been broken for the last six months. Because of this I have been unable to listen to any music, hear that satisfying Windows start-up noise that we all know and love (unless we have a Mac and HATE Windows), and a number of other things which More

Gastric bypass surgery - should we say no?

posted by admin in Uncategorized

The latest news from the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-10877140) suggests that palliative care, rather than surgery, is the answer for the growing obese population. It argues that reducing the symptoms and improving the general quality of life rather than curing is the answer.
I have a profound issue with the subject of gastric bypass surgery. It has been shown to work and it has been shown to have a payback period to the National health service of less than 4 More

Buckingham Palace should never have invited Nick Griffin in the first place

I find somethings incomprehensible. When my wife dishes out lots of money to sit under red and blue lights and then calls it Omnilux light therapy. I will never understand why some people choose to take part in LRP events. Also I have never really understood why people actually like really spinny rides at amusement parks.

But more than all of that; It is incomprehensible that a man who has uttered such comments as ’Hitler went a bit far'and More

DNA and Paternity Testing: What You Need to Know

In order to determine the true father of a child it is necessary to have a paternity test performed. This may seem like a scary and complicated process but it really isn’t. As with all things it is best to be educated when going into such a situation. Knowing what to expect can take the fear out of the situation.

Paternity tests verified through matching DNA. Each person has a unique genetic pattern that belongs only to them. In determining More

Poor Fred

Do you watch the TV show Embarrassing Bodies? Well, they always say on there “please don’t be embarrassed about coming to see us. Whatever the problem is, we have seen it before and we won’t be embarrassed.”

Now, this may be the case for 99% of doctors, but I know one who doesn’t fit that criteria. Yes, he falls in to the miniscule 1%.

His name is Fred. Fred has been my friend for many years, ever since we More

Us doctors get it in the neck a lot (especially the Accredited cosmetic doctors, who are faced with the dubious task of making already quite good-looking people look even better). We get in trouble for many reasons, but to my mind, the main ones are these: 1) We can’t write legibly (this is universal apparently). 2) We’re not sensitive enough and 3) most importantly because we are always, always making people wait. Which is what this article is about. More

Energy readings: Time to open your eyes wide!

posted by admin in Uncategorized

How many of us pause to think about energy consumption? We just go on using all sources of energy without glancing at consumption levels let alone think about saving! However, at this rate, the global climate will take a turn for the worst and who shall suffer but us mortals. A savior from this vicious circle seems to be in the form a company known as Enigin PLC whose graphic designer has lots say in his blog.

The Eniscope has More

Welcome to the Doctor’s Blog

posted by admin in Uncategorized

No, not The Doctor’s blog (I wish). The blog of me, Andrew Fernandez, I am a private practitioner working in London, and I love my job. Waking up every morning and being able to go out into the world and help people is glorious.

The other thing is, I love Doctor Who. Which actually may be the driving factor in my never getting married. So it is those two things that I will probably be talking about on this blog. I hope you enjoy!
